Detroit · Community + Law + Technology

Legal literacy and civic tech for the people who build Detroit's future.

Civil Savvy equips small businesses, nonprofits, and residents with the legal knowledge and technology tools they need to navigate systems that shape their lives — without needing a law degree.

Built at the intersection of law, technology, and community.

Civil Savvy was founded by Taegan Humphries, a 2L at Detroit Mercy School of Law, to close the gap between complex legal systems and the people who have to navigate them every day — small business owners, nonprofit directors, and Detroit residents.

The mission: expand access to justice, opportunity, and civic participation by translating legal and civic systems into plain language and practical tools.

Civil Savvy operates as a hybrid model — a consulting practice funding hands-on legal literacy work, with a nonprofit foundation on the horizon.
